Addison’s Varsity Wrestling team came one win away Wednesday night from advancing to the MHSAA Team State Finals Tournament held at the Wings Event Center in Kalamazoo.

In a region that included three teams ranked in the top 10 in Division 4, Addison would dominate #9 ranked Union City 55-22 in the semifinal, before falling to #3 ranked Hudson 24-45 in a competitive and exciting regional final match. Hudson would beat #8 ranked Bronson 52-21 before squaring off with Addison in the final.

The loss to Hudson marks an end to Addison’s team season. Addison finishes their season with a team record of 22-8, following a 2-13 record just one year ago.

The season will now turn to the individual side, as Addison has three individuals still alive in the individual state tournament. Brendan Ford (130 lbs.), Nathan Rodlund (140 lbs.), and Isaiah Beatty (160 lbs.) will compete in the MHSAA Individual Regional this Saturday 2/22 at Mendon High School. The three Panther wrestlers will be in pursuit of earning a bid to Individual State Tournament held at Ford Field in Detroit.
